Alps and Northern Lakes, 8 days package

for couples or small group of friends

Smart package designed for the indipendent traveler based on a private basis and partecipatipon to some group sightseeing to discover the North of Italy which is perfect for nature lovers who are looking for a mountainous retreat. Take this glorious package and discover the Alpine areas of the country (as well as of Switzerland where you will start the tour), blessed with sloping and dramatic (and some-times snow-tipped!) peaks. There is also a variety of expansive, cool, blue lakes to take a dip in the summer sun, some of the most famous being Lake Maggiore, Lake Como, and Lake Garda, all of which are surrounded by a plethora of charming villages, harbours, and even medieval castles for you to explore. As well as enjoying mother nature—either from land or on the water in a classic Italian vaporetto (waterbus) —you’ll also have the chance to head into metropolitan Milan for a spot of historic discovery and shopping in one of Europe’s foremost fashion capitals. Also to make it even further a great value for money we only included breakfast as we think that is important to leave the rest of the meals to the personal discovery  and taste, of course with the suggestions of our ground staff  if required

Day 4 – Milan
Today after breakfast you’ll drive from Stresa to Como. We’ll stop in Milan for a guided visit. Discovery the most European city of Italy where Fashion and Design are at their best. Milan is also an impressive city of art. The Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie is home to the Last Supper, the celebrated Leonardo Da Vinci fresco. A major architectural masterpiece is the renowned Teatro alla Scala. The imposing Duomo (Cathedral) is certainly remarkable, erected in white marble and dedicated to the Birth of the Virgin Mary. After your visit, continue to Como where you will arrive late afternoon. Overnight on Lake Como. (B)

Day 5 – Lake Como
In the morning, meet your guide for a private walking tour of Como. The city proudly reveals to visitors its dual character: art capital rich in history, and an active center buzzing with modern life. At the end of your visit, your guide will provide you with a boat ticket to Bellagio. Enjoy the ride in a typical vaporetto ( ferry), the views of Alps, the villas and the gardens erected on the shore of the lake. Once in Bellagio, experience its pretty historic heart, surrounded by antique city walls; the narrow roads start at Lake Como’s shores and run through the hills to a series of lakeside luxury hotels and elegant shopping streets. The town’s ancient origins are visible in its Romanesque Cathedral dedicated to San Giacomo, the interior of which seems unchanged from the 12th Century. You may also visit two classic examples of 18th and 19th-Century noble villas: Villa Serbelloni and Villa Melzi. Overnight on Lake Como. (B)

Day 6 – Lake Garda
This morning, meet your private driver and motor to Sirmione. You will enjoy en route stops in Sirmione and other small villages of Lake Garda. In 1921 Ezra Pound wrote to James Joyce from Sirmione’s harbour on Lake Garda: “Dear Joyce, I’d like you to spend a week here with me. The location is well worth the journey – both Catullus and I can guarantee it!”. The shores are covered by palms, oleander, olive trees and vineyards, in addition to the beaches, little ports, parks and nature reserves. Lake Garda, with its mild climate and perfect water temperature, seems but a piece of sea set amidst the Alps and the Po River Plain. The wines and olive oil produced here are excellent. Beautiful small villages are spread out along the coast: Bardolino, Garda, Brenzone, Malcesine, Torri del Benaco, just to mention a few. The medieval castles, the Romanesque churches, the small harbours filled with coloured fishing boats and a variety of flowers and trees will enchant you to no end. Overnight in Sirmione. (B)
