Sardinia longevity: unveiling the secret of long life!

6 days Escorted Tour

A wonderful journey at the discovery of Sardinia longevity secrets and visiting some of the areas of the island where many residents live up to more than a hundred years. You will travel from the lively sea town of Cagliari to the secluded green mountains of Seulo, the village with the highest percentage of centenarian men in the whole world, and learn about the Blue Zones. Escorted by a fully qualified biologist and nutritionist (PHD), this tour aims to introduce you to the benefits of genuine organic and locally grown food and wine, part of the diet of the inhabitants, but also to Sardinia traditions, prehistoric heritage sits, recipes, conviviality and therefore the local approach to life itself. Away from the mass tourism routes, ravished by breath-taking wild and unspoiled landscapes you will be able to mingle with the locals, get to know small communities and acquire some cooking and baking skills and ancient recipes from wise and knowledgeable hands

Learning more about their diet represents the opportunity to make a valuable cultural experience while appreciating how to combine simple and tasty flavours. The recipes extend from soups made with wild vegetables to ancient home made pasta dishes, game meat recipes and ways to store the food without refrigerating them). Afternoon visit to the Giara wild park (The Giara di Gesturi is a high and steep-sided basaltic plateau which covers almost 45 square kilometers on the highland overlooking the hilly valleys of Marmilla and high Trexenta. The giara was formed some 3 million years ago when lava covered older sedimentary rock. Nowadays in the up-land-flat you can visit a charming natural park with a stunning flora and fauna that for its uniqueness can be found only here) and its gracious little horses. It represents the possibility to better understand all the mechanisms and the factors involved from a scientific perspective. Geneticists, nutritionalists and anthropologists are generally hired according with the line of interest.
